Relax and enjoy a nice summer afternoon at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, located just 20 minutes away from our apartments in Granger. Below are three activities at the gardens that are sure to brighten your day and help you connect with the outdoors.
Yoga in the Gardens
The gardens offer yoga sessions for all skill levels on Saturday mornings at 9:15 a.m., June through September. This class costs $10 for non-members and $8 for members. Or, you can purchase a pass for 10 classes and receive one class free. Bring your own yoga mat, block, towel, and water bottle. You’ll certainly enjoy the serene natural surroundings as you perform a series of yoga postures meant to increase mindfulness, core strength, and flexibility. Remember to visit the website to review new regulations to keep you safe!
Explore the New Island Garden
On May 22nd of this year, Wellfield Botanic Gardens unveiled its newest attraction: a Japanese-inspired island garden. Specifically created by renowned Japanese garden designer Sadafumi Uchiyama, this one-acre garden is composed of three islands. You’ll also see an elegant wooden pavilion sitting atop the main island.
The garden is designed to reveal only specific parts of its landscape from certain vantage points. Take a short stroll and explore the exquisite gardens for yourself anytime from noon to 6:00 p.m.
Whether you’re a seasoned bird-watcher or just curious, these bird walks are a great way to connect with the local wildlife. The gardens host a wide variety of bird species. For the most part, you’ll learn to identify them by sight on these walks, which take place on the first Saturday of each month at 8:00 a.m.
So, if you’d like to enjoy a scenic walk while social distancing, bring comfortable shoes and binoculars. You’ll be thrilled by the picture-perfect scenes that greet you!
