Celebrate Diverse Music at These Michiana Concerts

Are you a music aficionado? If so, you may enjoy these fall concerts in Michiana. With the list including a harpsichord concert, chorale performance, and jazz open session, you won’t be lacking for entertainment options in the month of November. Additionally, these events will be held no more than 15 minutes away from Main Street Village.

Recital: Jory Vinikour, Harpsichord (November 7th)

The University of Notre Dame is located less than four miles away from Main Street Village, so you won’t have to travel far to enjoy this one. The harpsichord concert will be held at the LaBar Recital Hall from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Jory Vinikour, the musician who will be performing, has entertained audiences in venues from Austria to South Africa! He has also performed with leading orchestras such as Philharmonic of Radio France, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Fall Concert: Notre Dame Chorale (November 8th)

Do you enjoy choral music? For only $10, you can attend the University of Notre Dame’s November Chorale Concert at the Leighton Concert Hall. The venue is approximately a 10-minute drive from Main Street Village and will last from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or over the phone at 574-631-2800. 

At this concert, you’ll enjoy choral works by Schumann, Wagner, Stravinsky, and Monteverdi. World-renowned pianist and Notre Dame music faculty member, Paivi Ekroth, will accompany the chorale.

Ekroth, a native of Finland, has performed at international festivals such as Irving S. Gilmore Keyboard Festival, the New Jersey Symphony’s Rachmaninoff Festival, and the Ruhr Keyboard Festival.

Jazz Open Session (November 12th)

Are you a jazz fan? If so, you’ll want to join members of the Merrimans’ Playhouse in South Bend every Tuesday for a jazz open session. The doors open every Tuesday at 7:00 pm. However, the event will last from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The suggested donation is five dollars and the event will be open to the public.

So, consider stopping by to perform in a relaxed atmosphere with your friends and local South Bend musicians.
