Whether you enjoy learning about the cars of yesteryear or today’s modern designs, car museums in Indiana offer plenty of online fun. When you’re ready to explore, here are three museums you can discover from our Granger apartments.
National Automotive & Truck Museum
Nestled in Auburn, the National Automotive & Truck Museum strives to preserve the country’s automotive and truck history. You’ll find the museum inside the former home of the Auburn Automobile Company. History was made inside these buildings. In the Service Building, they test drove cars. When the 810-812 Cords were released, they featured a plaque signed by race driver Ab Jenkins with their highest speed reached during the test. Enjoy the video tours to explore the Hays Antique Truck Collection and much more.
Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum
Home of the classics since 1974, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum brings automotive history to life. This museum exists inside the Auburn Automobile Company’s administrative office. On opening weekend, admission was only $1.50. One of the many exhibits is the Original Company Showroom. It showcases the Auburns, Cords, and Dusenbergs produced between 1925 and 1937. At one time, dealers from around the world came to the showroom to select the products to sell in their local regions.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
Founded in 1956, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum displays memorabilia and race vehicles associated with the Indianapolis 500. It’s also the home of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame. Every year, a group of drivers, historians, and auto racing journalists select inductees from a ballot of nominees. During the virtual tour, you’ll discover an array of vehicles and learn about the restoration process.
As you explore these Indiana car museums, enjoy a bowl of pho from a local restaurant.
