Did you know that arts and crafts classes can boost your confidence? If you’d like to work on a fun project, check out these arts and crafts classes in the South Bend region.

Elkhart Art League

Established in 1925, the Elkhart Art League originally subsidized travel costs for artists on painting tours. Today, it’s dedicated to helping students develop their artistic abilities to the fullest. The instructors teach students how to work with a variety of mediums, and they offer classes for all skill levels.

Bring out your inner Picasso at a spray-painting or mixed-media class. In the latter, you’ll learn how to create unique designs using acrylics, watercolors, and drawing pencils.

Make South Bend

Make South Bend brings artists and the community together so that everyone can gain a sense of wellbeing through the medium of art. The organization aims to inspire through weekly classes and a curated gallery of local goods. You’ll find authentic creations from about 40 local artisans in the Make South Bend shop.

Here, you can use the organization’s space and tools to create your own masterpiece. You’ll find stained-glass stations, pottery wheels, kilns, block-printing materials, leather-working tools, and more at your fingertips.

Need some instruction before you begin? Skilled instructors teach each session, and everyone can join in the fun. You can learn everything from knitting to creating a Van Gogh-style painting from scratch.

Sew Unique by Jackie

Jackie, the owner-proprietor, began sewing at a young age. Nearly 30 years ago, she developed a unique method of sewing instruction that allows students to learn at their own pace. Today, she offers ongoing classes to anyone who cares to master the art of sewing. You can work at your own pace, of course.

Sewing machines and other necessary equipment are available during classes at no additional charge. If you’ve always wanted to quilt, then sign up for the adult quilting class. You’ll learn techniques such as piecing, sashing, and backing. Your finished 45-inch quilt can be used as a wall hanging or baby blanket.

These art and craft classes in the South Bend region offer plenty of value for everyone.
